After graduation from Emory Law School with numerous honors, David began his legal career as a Staff Attorney with Georgia’s State Law Department. He was later named as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia representing clients such as the Board of Regents, Department of Revenue, Public Service Commission and Secretary of State Max Cleland.

David is currently a partner in the Atlanta law firm Sutherland Asbill and Brennan LLP. David is a member of both the District of Columbia Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia. In addition to his commercial law practice, David represents indigent veterans on a pro bono basis before the United States Court of Veterans Appeals and serves as counsel to the Partnership Against Domestic Violence. In 2000 David represented Vice President Al Gore and the Florida Democratic Party in the landmark case Bush v. Palm Beach County Canvassing Board before the United States 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

David was appointed to the State Bar of Georgia’s Court Futures Committee and Evidence Committee. He has authored numerous articles and presented speeches on various legal issues.

In 2003, David was recognized by the Fulton County Daily Report as one of the young lawyers in Georgia “on the rise.” In 2004 he was recognized by Atlanta Magazine as one of Georgia’s “Superlawyers.” In 2005, David was elected to serve as Chairman of the Georgia Code Revision Commission. He also became a member of the DeKalb County District Attorney's Community Advisory Board and was named to Who's Who In Law and Accounting by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. In 2006, David was again named by his peers as a Superlawyer. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Decatur-DeKalb Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association and numerous other professional organizations.
